She discovered her passion for addiction treatment while in nursing school at Saint Francis Medical -Center College of Nursing and it was rekindled during her graduate education at University of Illinois at Chicago. She fell in love with the field of psychiatry while working in a community mental health clinic as a RN, and continued her education to obtain her master’s in psychiatric nursing to be able to provide more intensive care to people in need. She has a combined experience in the treatment of a variety of mental health disorders as well as the disease of addiction and even more so when these conditions collide. She is unconventional in her approach as she feels there is more to a person than a diagnosis and more to treatment than a pill. Frank was just 5 years old when he came to live with us in the summer of 2024. He was gifted to us by a dear friend who had taken our 90-gallon tank in 2023 for him. When her living situation changed and she could no longer keep him, Frank came to live with us. Don't worry she visits often, and Frank definitely remembers her.
Upon his arrival, Frank was upgraded to a spacious 180-gallon tank complete with a beautiful grassy knoll for basking. (He's not spoiled at all, we promise.) Most of the time, he enjoys hanging out in his tank, but every now and then you'll catch him basking during the day. Frank is still a little shy and if you catch him off guard, he might make a big splash as he dives into the water. It's his signature move! Surprisingly he's been known to make a break for it. He's escaped a few times and had a grand old time running the office.
We love having Frank around, he keeps things interesting, one splash at a time.
Anna came to us in 2025 at around 2 years old, courtesy of the universal cat distribution system. She simply appeared one day on Jen's front porch and never looked back.
Anna isn't the biggest fan of dogs, but she'll tolerate other cats (on her terms, of course). She's playful, affectionate, and always up for a bit of lovin. She doesn't mind being picked up and carried around. Anna loves treats and getting under everyone's feet.
With a healthy dose of sass and a personality all her own, Anna has firmly claimed her place in the practice. She may have found us by chance, but she's here to stay!
Kizzy joined us in 2025 at around 5 years old and quickly became a quiet yet charming presence. He's Nicole's baby and a bit of a shy boy, often found surveying the world from the highest spots he can find.
While he prefers not to be picked up or held, Kizzy absolutely loves to play and cuddle on his own terms. Toys and skritches are the way to his heart!
Once he warms up to you, he's a sweet companion who brings a calm, affectionate energy to our space.
